Pretty sure there's been 'real time' observation of things like 'Stickleback fish' speciating.
So... you're kind of saying that biologists/environmentalists/et.al have only seen/found... five new species in the past 100 odd years?
That... doesn't seem right..... But I'm definately no biologist.
Also... I don't think it's a 'Set' kind of figure. Such as... if there's no change in the environment... then there's no real drive to effect a change in critters. Hence... no real speciation occuring...
