It's a natural cycle. River banks benefit from it happening. The Ancient Egyptians developed their entire civilization around the regular, annual event in their local area.
So... the question actuall is: "What are your thoughts/take on a certain Bronze age tale about a specific incident of flooding?"

What specific incident? You're talking about a period of roughly 1800 years. Pretty sure there were a lot of floods.
