Fair enough. But my point was, that a perfect being wouldn't need anything, so if you accept that god does anything, you can't really discriminate, what methods he uses.

Yes, I'm aware. It's also worth noting, that end of times predictions and survivalist prepping are also much more common and popular among Americans, than in most of the rest of the world. So there seems to be a correlation between certain religious teachings and nutty behavior. Whether there's causality, that's difficult to tell - perhaps certain kinds of christianity attract wackos more than others and maybe US has more mentally ill people than many other countries (which wouldn't be surprising, considering american attitudes towards mental healthcare and education), but I don't know how you can just attribute it to individual choices.
