My SO knows taxes and tax law.
She says "there' s no upside to him showing how much he made. Regardless of the numbers - his detractors will make a case that either 1. He' s making too much money. Or 2. He' s not making shit - what kinda lousy businessman is he???..
Keep in mind --- the IRS knows how much he makes - and they don't seem to have any issues about him not paying the correct amount.
So it makes sense that he doesn't show his hand.
He' s still an asshole, of course - just not a stupid asshole.
Can you imagine if someone working for the IRS stepped up and decided to take the bullet and leak his returns? That person would probably be in prison for the rest of their life. (Of course unless he was pardoned by a Democratic president) But can you imagine the balls that person would have to do that?
