Identity politics is tautological. All politics devolve down to the conjuring up, the assignment, or the suppression of, or the appeal to, identity.
The difference lies in which identities the political fractions appeal to, how cynical were the selection of identities to appeal to, how duplicitous are the manners of the appeal, and how ruthless each trampled upon the identities outside its core.
