And this is, again, why memes fail and why intelligent discourse MUST be the way of the day-- any meme, ANY, can basically be copy-pasted to show new affiliations, and because the positions are so shallow, there's really very little to distinguish a pro-gay-meming-Trump from a pro-gay-meming anything elase.
Do you mean that at face value we should expect Trump's "pro-gay stance" here to be as valid as anyone else's pro-gay stance? Not sure if I agree with that sentiment.
If that's not what you mean, care to explain more?
Trump has made a number of nods to the Log Cabin Republicans. The LCR worldview is a bit different from the more widely publicized mainstream LGBT rhetoric. A lot of LCRs that I have known are hostile to things like the gay pride parades, because they think they are embarrassing. They tend to believe that gay men should look like men, dress like men, act like men, and should most definitely not act like flaming homosexuals. Your typical LCR is a white gay man who is deperately trying to prove to conservative Republicans that they are just like the conservative Republicans, only gay. LCRs have a bit of a history with trans bashing, so it is not surprising that the Trump administration was able to roll back trans rights without losing LCR support.
This is not the first favorable move that Trump has made toward the gay community. For example, he appointed an openly gay man to be US ambassador to Germany.
