I actually had this opportunity. I was a civilian contractor for the U.S. Army in Balad, Iraq 2004-2006. During these two years I had the pleasure of extended days of face to face conversations with 40+ Iraqi civilians and ex military personnel.
A very very small sampling yes, but what 'kılıç_mehmet' says about the stability of everyday life in Iraq is in agreement with what was related to me by those Iraqi citizens.
I used to tell a lot of religious jokes. Not any more, I'm a registered sects offender.
