The promise of democracy, is an empty one, especially if it's made by western governments. Instead of providing relief for the people that died in the clashes, the west chooses to provide the rebels with weapons, in order to accelerate the clashes. The rule of Qaddafi, whose rule was all about keeping the oil firmly in Libyan hands, is much more preferrable to the imperialist rule of the west.
