RE: Christian utopia?

One word: theocracy. And it sucks.
Also remember the Middle Ages when Roman Catholic Church was basically above royal powers. Vatican drowned in luxury while Europe was constantly ravaged by hunger. Power corrupts and there's hardly anything worse in this respect than power backed up by appeals to divinity. On the other hand, protestants were hardly any better in the beginning. Both Calvin and Luther were fanatics. Calvin tried to create an utopia in Geneve and practially turned the city into a concentration camp crippled by fear. And it's not only Christianity, of course. No wonder people fought for secularism throughout the ages.
