With any luck cigarette tar has provided my lungs with with a nice protective coating against diacetyl.
Seriously, someone gifted me with a vape that came with a nasty grape-flavored cartridge. It seemed as though I tasted/felt some sort of slick residue as I used it, so I tossed it.
Those flavored products are exactly what the teens vapers are drawn to, I'd bet. They definitely need make the risks of diacetyl clear to consumers who think that what they're inhaling is essentially as safe as water.

Word on the street is that nicotine can have an adverse effect on blood sugar levels.

In folks who actually have diabetes I imagine nicotine is even more problematic as diabetes presents with circulatory problems that vasoconstriction would only stand to exacerbate.
