Imagine being an atheist in a very religious, fundamentalist town. Many of you may well have first hand experience of that. Now imagine that the rest of the world is also just as fundamentally religious, to the tune of 99% at the least. Imagine if you couldn’t speak publicly about your beliefs or experiences anywhere, except with a very few understanding people, or at specific places. If you do, you’ll get socially shunned at best, and arrested at worst.
Last time I checked; the one and only modern state ruled by religious fundamentalists was the "ISIL"; and that's in the Middle East. There, you can lose your head if you change the religion you were forced into since birth.
You are deluding if you say atheists are being stunned and arrested at a European country or in Britain. If they didn't prosper there, where would they prosper?
Remember and imagine what we Arabs go through every day hearing the estimations of our deaths and torture either at the hands of religious extremists or by the hands brutal governments, and hear about the death toll in other Arab countries including our own.
Coming from there makes me tell you to value the gift of safety that you got born into. Believe me you don't want to live where opening your mouth=torture for life.
