I think I’ve seen every possible way for tube to fail at this point, sometimes the only solution is to burn it down and begin anew!
It's more of a curiosity than a problem. I generally don't start up until I have at least 250 gallons in the tank.
The only time the line is dry is at initial start - and if I shut down overnight - and blow out the hose with air to prevent freezing.
