I could have hope that I am going to find a huge bag of money, but I can almost assuredly be certain, that will not happen.
The difference is, at least I know that bags of money actually exist. So, there is some incredibly tiny basis for hope.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
