I've heard somewhere that cows can climb stairs, but they can't get back down once they're up. Don't know how true it is, I've never tried to take a cow up or down a staircase.
Edit: I've never tried it with old ladies either.

Trying to imagine a situation in which a cow would climb a flight of stairs in the first place.  Failing udderly.

Somebody at some point must have taken a cow up a staircase and then found out that it's impossible for the cow to get back down.. I'm with you, why would anyone take a cow up a staircase to begin with? And how did he or less likely she get the cow back down?

Right. I've just Googled it.. Cows can actually walk downstairs, they just don't like it.
