1 What's the point of making the world a better place if humanity will cease to exist eventually? Species last 3 million years on average according to theory of evolution. Fermi paradox indicates that technologically advanced civilizations don't last long so humanity likely has less than 500 years left before it vanishes if atheism is true.
2 Good is what God defines as good. Homosexual marriages, kids having sex change surgeries and abortions don't make the world a better place.
I'd suggest that you go read what the "Fermi Paradox", as quoted of Enrico Fermi, really is before you use it as a proof of your cause. Rarity of extraterrestrials is not equivalent to mankind's extinction in some arbitrary time frame.
