Cancer can just happen without any "bad habits" bad habits like smoking can make it more likely but to say that everyone that has cancer brought it on themselves is insulting and wrong.
For example in the west country many houses are made with granite, granite is a stone that is naturally radioactive so just by living in there will increase your chance of cancer. Also between 5 to 10 percent of cancers are caused by genes.
In the developed world we live longer and cancer is manly an old person disease.
We no longer die of scratches, polio, mumps, measles etc like they did in the dark ages so more people get cancer because they live longer.

According to you, cancer is concentrated in the elderly population, it is logical because it is in that age where bad habits accumulate, removing all those who did not reach old age. That is logical, when you live more bad habits accumulate (cancer occurs in your body). The higher the rise, the stronger the fall. I met many people who have been cured of cancer by moving away from bad habits. It all depends on one's spiritual and voluntary strength.
The dark ages of Europe sick people died basically due to lack of hygiene, it seems that they did not wash themselves (ablution) before praying before God. God does not love impurity.
Yes, low self-esteem leads to cancer if it is not avoided. You are what you eat. In many cases, people with low self-esteem cover their depression, lack of love, loneliness and sadness with food and this leads to overweight(bad eating habits) and therefore to cancer. Anorexia and bulimia are the cause of the desperate search for a beautiful body. Food in this sense is related to wanting to be desirable and loved (loneliness and lack of love). Food is consciously suppressed (human mind). In most cases the cause of this is a deep depression or low self-esteem that cancels the value of other personal aspects (faith and love) and puts superficial elements (materialism) in the foreground, in this sense the experience is " there is nothing within me that I value and for which others may love me, so I try to follow the model of external beauty to be loved ".
Faith and love in God is the cure for everything. If these people had some faith in their hearts they would not mind the material and their spirit would be strengthened with faith and love with God. In the same way that God allowed the Prophet Jesus to cure the blind and the sick through faith and love, it is a psychological question.

I will tell you what happened to one of our brothers (in faith). The brother was from Egypt but lived in England. His heart was sick (literally) and had to be operated on a certain date. His doctor told him that the operation was not safe. The brother went to Egypt to visit his family in case he did not return in the future. During his stay in his country he went to buy meat in a store. There he saw a woman who collected the leftovers left by the butcher after cutting the meat (tendons). The butcher told the sick-hearted man that this woman is the mother of seven children and came to collect the remains that the butcher gave him instead of throwing them away. At that time the sick man gave that woman a check to buy free meat for a year. When he returned home he cried a lot for what he had done. After returning to England for the operation his heart was checked and his doctor was amazed, the heart had healed. The doctor could not understand what had happened. The enormous faith and love in God (Allah) had healed his heart. Some prefer to call it a miracle and others by another name depending on their knowledge.
Everything is psychological, as I said before the "disease" is the invention of the human mind and only the human mind can cure this imbalance in the brain-heart. Heart disease can be quack psychologically and physically (using devices such as the scalpel and the human mind-knowledge) but better one can heal oneself. Psycho (psykhe) means in Greek language soul or mind and physic (phusikos) means natural. One who learns for himself is wiser than he who learns from another is not the same.
