Many verses from the Quran quite describe the situation of punishment:
also
But acting a fool as if non-belief didn't cause the death of Millions, locked the world in an age of deterrence, and caused hunger and slavery to an evil capitalistic system favoring the strong who spilled more blood than we can imagine.
As if humanity didn't sin to deserve such a Godly mosquito sized sting to bring the rotten economics of this world collapsing.
But who knows? maybe the mercy of God -that covers everything- covers humanity like it always did and we see Coronavirus vanish.
But guilty? oh yes humanity is guilty.
Quote:Sura 10, The Quran:

( 96 ) Indeed, those upon whom the word of your Lord has come into effect will not believe,
( 97 ) Even if every sign should come to them, until they see the painful punishment.

Quote:Sura 26, The Quran:

( 200 ) Thus have We inserted disbelief into the hearts of the criminals.
( 201 ) They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment.
( 202 ) And it will come to them suddenly while they perceive [it] not.
( 203 ) And they will say, "May we be reprieved?"
( 204 ) So for Our punishment are they impatient?
