Problem with Zod is that his divinity isn't taught to people when they're kids and that's why nobody believes in him. You know how it goes: tell people about the carpenter who walks on water when they are adults and they'll laugh at you, but coach it to them when they are kids and they will defend it well over the point of dishonesty.
