If you gave me the choice of driving on the road with hundred cars or swimming with a hundred sharks, I'm taking the cars every time.
No different with the police, interactions are limited, Sure I'm more likely to be murdered by people in my social circle but in my social circle I have a level of control. With a police interaction my level of control is almost zero, they have the power to detain me and even kill me. So I'm always going to feel safer every time surrounded by the people I know than surrounded by people I don't know who have weapons and the power to detain and kill me.
Exactly. You FEEL more safe.
But statistics and logic say otherwise.
Just something to think about..
No I don't think it's illogical that you feel more safe around people you know as opposed to armed police officers that you don't know. Just as I don't feel it's illogical to fear swimming with a bunch of sharks as opposed to driving a car.
