Save a hell of alot on heating and cooling, too. There are huge portions of this country (and this world) where massive earth and solar passive design should be the only structures standing. Then we'd save on all of the stuff we currently make houses from. We've only known about that stuff for something like 50k years though, might be beyond our grasp.
It's difficult for me to see this whole pop control thing as anything other than people complaining that making the world better, making the world they claim to want..is just too hard. Even when it isn't. So let's tell Muerta and Mbuntu that they can't have kids instead. It doesn't matter that this won't do anything even if we could accomplish it, it's just The Thing To Do™.
