Rednecks don't snitch either.  The "don't snitch" thing is only a thing in that it's a thing that racist twatwaffles say.  Since they say it, many people are saying it™, and it worms it's way into the ears of people who consume rightwing nutter shit.

To be fair, it technically is a thing, although the Stop Snitchin' movement was most prominent in the mid-2000s.



And frankly, it makes a lot of sense why it would pop up when you consider the history of police brutality. If a guy can get shot 19 times for reaching out in his wallet, and shit like this isn't that much of an aberration, it makes sense. Even the serial killer example makes sense when you consider the time Jeffrey Dahmer managed to sweet-talk his way out of an arrest after one of his victims RAN OUT OF HIS APARTMENT NAKED.
