Not really a phrase, but on my first trip to Australia, because plugs are different, I couldn't plug my computer in to their sockets because the prongs were different. So my first day there she kept on saying "powerpoint"....... And all I could think was, " I need a plug adaptor not software." It is also like how they call shrimp "prawns".
And don't ask for a hamburger in Australia if you want an American version. And when you say "chicken wings" they give you the entire wing, full size, not the buffalo winglets we serve here. And pizza, yea, not the same. Not bad, but still, not the same.
Nothing wrong with different things at all. But language is funny between different societies.
