His high school started having a football team when we were freshmen.  My high school had a team for years and was known for being really good.  We were rivals already in all other sports.

First Junior Varsity game between my school and his and there was a big injury on the field.  Really tall, thin guy from their team got creamed by much shorter, stocky guy from my school.  Tall guy flew up in the air and did a back flip before landing really, really badly on one of his legs.  There was a collective gasp from both stands.  Ambulance drove onto the field to scoop him up and haul him away.

When we met he asked me if I knew Steve...yeah, I did.  Boyfriend says, "Yeah, he broke my leg and screwed up my knee in a football game when we were freshman."

That was you??????  

Not a pretty thing to watch, but then neither were either of the ACL tears my son suffered playing HS football.

No it never is. I don't care what sport one is into, or what team one roots for. I have to give kudos to to most players and fans, when shit like this happens, nobody is happy.

I won't lie, I do like seeing a player of a rival get "knocked out", but not in the context of ending up in the hospital. 

Just like watching the Skins Cowboys. I always loved seeing Aikman get sacked. But no, I would not want see him get his leg broken. Sports ultimately is just that. I always hate losing to the Cowboys, but no matter the team, I don't like seeing any player end up in the hospital.
