When I first saw Al Gore's movie, I was skeptical of the points he was making. I should've been, because he glossed over any complexity in the science, and gave over-simplified evidence. By itself, his evidence was a bit shoddy.
Then I researched both the naysayer arguments, and the scientific arguments. The science won easily. The only thing you can remain skeptical of is the exact amount of warming, not that it is happening or that it won't cause huge changes to the planet in a short period of time.
But, I am trained as scientist. What about those that aren't? They have Fox News to help them feel good about themselves. Climate denial just feels less stressful, and we won't be alive when the real problems hit. If we can label climate change as a left-wing conspiracy to create a world government that will enslave humanity, we can convince our fellow political circle not to worry either. What's not to love?
