Oh and if the company is inventing technologies that were never dreamt of, why then are the traditional car manufacturers leaving it in the dust. The fact that Tesla is using manufacturing processes investigated and long discarded by them as unsafe, unworkable and uneconomic might have something to do with it. The only thing the company brings to the table is a slighly better battery*, and if you think nobody else could have done that you're a bigger idiot than you think I am.
Musk is a grifter and a snake oil salesman. Nothing else.

I like the idea of Tesla. Musk just wanted to create an electric car industry. Investors bidding up the stock to crazy levels is their stupidity.
The problem with Tesla is that they are still too expensive, and their fit and finish sucks. A friend ordered a Model X. When it came he noticed dozens of major paint flaws (laughably bad). He refused delivery.
Nobody would give GM or Chrysler a pass for such shoddy work, but Tesla is seen as a tech company.
That being said, I think SpaceX is awesome.
