Which is more likely - that the passage accurately describes a rare but known event (and ascribes an apocalyptic event to it), ...
or that it badly describes the Sun going Nova, by which time life on Earth would be dead for over 4 Billion years already from a hotter Sun (and the Earth would be swallowed along with the Sun, leaving no place for the observer of the prose to be)?
I know which one I'm betting on.
