Christianity is already messed up because the bible is already forged and is a very ugly mixture of Jesus's Hadith and the real word of God; remember that the Romans are responsible for that forgery that happened in The First Council of Necaea:

It's a very different case from the fresh Islam, that has very obvious separation between God's word (Quran) and human word (Hadith).

My point about Christianity that the faith itself is corrupted beyond repair. It is too too long and full of loopholes that Rome kept in the Council so they control the religion. So of course anything spawning from it is messed up; including the American left.
