Anyhoo Non-Binary and transexuals are different things.
Non-Binary is someone who is attracted to males and females.
A transexual who feels that they have been born the wrong gender which is again different to gay.
Its complex and religions really aren't very good at nuance which is probably why your preacher is so ignorant.
