But, again, papal infallibility. I was taught as a young Catholic that the pope is infallible, so when he makes a decision regarding church teachings, he will never be wrong about it. I guess this even applies if he helps hide the deeds of pedophile priests.

I've often wondered this myself, and think it would be a good thing for the church if they did. Surprisingly, my conservative Catholic mother agreed with me. I once heard some priest talking about it and he claimed that a priest can't serve both God and a family. In other words, his wife & kids would be a distraction to being a priest. I call BS, because there are plenty of Protestant ministers who seem to be able to balance church duties with a family. Also, why would I ever want to get marriage counseling from someone who has no idea what it's like to have a wife? That would be like asking for skydiving advice from someone who's never done it.
