A smidge simplistic and more than little at odds with my perception and experience of Islam and Muslims (and of Rayaan).
There are two main branches of Islam,(Sunni and Shia) and many denominations, each having it own ideas of what the Qur'an actually says.
To complicate matters, there is also the Hadith. Although not doctrine it is treated as such by many, but ignored by others.
I have never actually met a Muslim who supports violent jihad. (The word simply means 'struggle' as in the daily struggle of life)
The Muslims I've known are horrified by the barbarity of the violent Islamists and the extreme behaviour of the Wahhabi Muslims of Saudi Arabia
To me, Rayaan seems like a good, decent man and a good Muslim. Although not synonymous, neither are the two mutually exclusive as you seem to suggest..
In my experience and perception, most Muslims are just ordinary people, neither especially nor bad who do the best they can day-to-day to have a prosperous and peaceful life.
To judge all Muslims by the extreme Islamists, is just like judging Christianity by the Christian lunar right, culminating in Fred Phelps.
