It's hard to figure skate on the front yard no matter how frozen it is but that's where I learned to skate. It's also not a great figure skating surface on a frozen creek. Those nice smooth rinks they do all the fancy stuff on surely makes it easier. Boy does a few hours of skating put your ankles through it.
A lot like the difference in roller skating at the nice polished and smooth rink and the rough go down an old sidewalk. I could do both pretty well.
For us ice skating was more about getting from where I lived - up on the hill - to the Main Street bridge where we would all congregate. The same meetings were more often done on bikes in good weather.
I was ok at roller skating. I could do the leg twists and flip from forward to backwards, but I could not do any fancy twists or flips or leg extensions. Even with skateboarding, all I could do was tac left to right.
Even with basketball, I had a very short stint growing up, never being able to switch hands or flip the ball between my legs, I did have a short period, if I caught my defender with enough distance between us, I had a 3 pointer shot I could hit. But most of the time, I had my ass handed to me.

In other news, blueberries don’t thunder majestically across the savannah, and herds of wildebeest don’t grow on bushes.

Thank you for stating the obvious, and that was the point of my post.
No, your post was pointless. Once again, you were consumed by your pathological need to say something. Anything.
