Lawrence Welk was a thing at grandma and grandpa's farm. Dad was in college and mom was pretty young so the musical show I saw was American Bandstand on Saturday mornings...when I didn't have to go to catechism.

I referenced welk in a thing...and one of my deeply held peers asked me who lawrence welk was. Just flat never heard of it. That's sacriligous, right?
