A rational firearm owner, is going to tell others what a rational drivers ed teacher would teach about cars. "Treat it like a weapon" Assume it can kill you at any time. Assume it can kill others at any time. Unfortunately both firearms and cars are treated as "fun" and not responsibilities.
Treating a car like a weapon is smart. I don't mean "aggressive" like you are attacking other vehicles, but my driver's ed teacher in HS said, "Always assume you have a atom bomb strapped to the front of your bumper. Meaning, keep your distance and obey the speed limit. If you do that, you are far less likely to injure yourself or others.
But far to many firearm owners treat firearms as toys, not responsibilities. Just like lots of drivers love the thrill of speeding on public roads, but then bitch when they get a speeding ticket.
