And the same goes for lockdowns (and I believe for quite a few things, including eating meat: If human beings were not irrationally attracted to short-term profits above sustainability, antibiotic resistance would not be a problem with the meat industry.). Sure, it is not exactly the same thing. Whether lockdowns could work in a perfectly rational society is a matter of hard science, while whether communism would work in it is a matter of soft science. But the principle remains the same.
