I think climate change is one of the biggest issues we have to work on. How did this go from a woman not wanting to wear a mask, to the genocide of American Indians, to Colin Kaepernick, and now to climate change?
It is the decades long conspiracy crap the right buys on multiple topics and slowly it all ads up.
Someone bent on not wearing a mask is more likely to claim "settlers" were not "invaders" and that Kaeperneck is a selfish greedy minority not happy with the fact white pro sports owners make him rich. And climate change has been ignored for over 100 years.
I wouldn't have even commented if you said crazy Christian woman refuses to wear a mask or crazy Trumper refuses to wear a mask. That would have been fine. Trump did do damage by playing the role of macho man (he even played that song at his rallies) and act as if masks weren't manly or whatever. Yes, of course Trump sucks. I'm right there with you. But you don't need to bring race into it with every little negative thing a white does.
Conspiracy theorists are more likely to be on the right (but then again, there is the Russiagate conspiracy theory which never amounted to much in terms of evidence). That's true. A lot of people on the right don't really care to do decent research and just believe what Rush Limbaugh or whoever tells them. At the same time, the government and the media sow distrust by being full of shit, so they deserve much of the blame for people believing in conspiracy theories. A year ago, CNN said anyone who even entertains the lab leak hypothesis is xenophobic/racist. A year later, and CNN's Sanjay Gupta is defending the lab leak theory as plausible. Mainstream media is a dumpster fire and politicians on all sides are lying dumpster fires.
Kaepernick seems to be out to make money at this point. I don't know much about his intentions anymore. He was given a chance to try out with teams and he refused to follow the rules they set in place for him. He used it as a publicity stunt. He's an activist for racial equality who chose to take millions of dollars from Nike, a company that pays their workers pennies to make shoes that sell for hundreds of dollars.
I'm right with you on climate change. See, we agree on plenty. Now in the words of Rodney King, why can't we all just get along? Why do we have to all hate each other and use race to divide?
