Yeah. The relationship between religion and nationalism was a marriage of convenience. But over the years, many have come to believe that these two actually love each other. Same goes for capitalism and a whole host of other things.

Thus you have futuristic religious fanatics thinking that Happy Meals and such are central tenets of their faith.
