Maybe “I saw the man had a gun and I peed myself” doesn’t say much, but I suspect that it was more “Why the fuck does a man need to carry a gun in the supermarket? Especially in a nation where mass shootings happen almost every day*. Can we be sure this is just a Good Guy With A Gun™️ instead of just another mass shooter? Are we sure the Good Guy With A Gun™️ is actually common enough that it’s reasonable to assume they could get the job done in such an event and that it’s not (for the most part) just a myth Hollywood tells us to sell popcorn and the NRA tells us so they can sell guns?”**
*note: It’s almost halfway through the year, and there have been a total of 38 days without a single mass shooting.
**note: you may point to some examples of it happening in real life, but this doesn’t mean they’re not outliers that won’t really help the majority of the time. Or that even some gun owners actually see through that myth.
