I could be wrong about this but it looks like I need to tread lightly in the bible belt until I know what I'm getting into. Sometimes you just want to go to wal mart, get what you need and leave without receiving a wrath of shit
Ah, the fine thing about atheism, you don't have to advertise it. No need to go out and "save" other people or grind other's faces in the dirt with how whole you feel now that you've found the "path of truth" or praising the FSM so that everyone hears.
Just be careful if you feel that there's the need to be. And good luck, I don't envy you guys who live in the Bible belt..
Thanks for the sympathy. It does't take much for some theists to feel threatened. An atheist t-shirt or pin will do. Just getting a "Darwin Coelacanth" emblem for your car can make the shit fly. Yet you can paste Jeeesus all over the place and get approving nods almost wherever you go. The more subtle shit, like letting a Christian employer know what you are, can be dangerous. At least it has been for some people I know here.
I have studied the Bible and the theology behind Christianity for many years. I have been to many churches. I have walked the depth and the breadth of the religion and, as a result of this, I have a lot of bullshit to scrape off the bottom of my shoes. ~Ziploc Surprise
