I'm suspicious that the Saudis are guilty of a lot of things the US overlooks. I've always hoped to see an end to our "special relationship" along with Israel, too. Another great reason to stop burning oil. We don't rely on them as much now but who knows how long it will last. That entire region is an abomination.
I don't think there's anything to Afghan conspiracies, though. We went in there for one reason only, but staying for 20 years made little sense. Maybe if we'd never helped them out with the Ruskies, we might never have had to go after Bin Laden. Again, the middle east is a cesspool. If only we had listened to Eisenhower.
