Mmm.
Not in recent years.
When I was at school (I was 11 and 12) the school took us to see The Ten Commandments and Ben Hur ("A story of the Christ") The next day at school, we were given a homily with each film as the subject.(didn't see that at the time)
At 18 I saw "The Greatest Story Ever Told", the story of Jesus' ministry, death and resurrection. It starred Max Von Sydow as Jesus. I thought it was terrific. I venture to say I'd almost certainly be less impressed today.
Couldn't sit through The Last Temptation Of Christ, I think. It starred Willem Dafoe.
Didn't make it half way through "The Passion Of The Christ", made by the devout conservative Catholic Mel Gibson. Catholics from the Vatican down thought it was just fucking dandy. I thought the violence was pornographic. Still do.
I think Nicholas Cage made a film called "Left Behind", and its sequels Left Behind 2 and 3. It's about those who are left behind after "The Rapture." Also starring little Kirky Cameron, it's free to watch on Youtube. I dare ya.
