At the catholic schools I attended, we learned by rote, reinforced with a strap, sometimes on a daily basis. I learned very little and left without finishing high school. My education began after I'd left high school. Finished high school at night. I spent a total of 13 years studying part time.
Contrary to popular belief, a person doesn't need to be especially bright to earn most undergraduate degrees. A modest IQ can earn a pretty good degree if motivated, focussed and committed.
