It's due to a hasty desperation to become what one isn't before one is ready.
I personally think that it's because hatred and animosity are what is taught in many religious environments, but (ironically) the virtues named in these self-same environments are love, peace, charity etc. Sometimes, such cognitive dissonance may stem from an individual's "unreadiness." But it's fair to point out contradictions in the message too.
