It's all part of describing your research. "If place names suggest that war crimes in living memory didn't happen, I would expect to find x y and z. I did not find x, y, or z...but I did find a mass grave, material witnesses, perpetrators, trial proceedings, and a monument to the event."
-back to the drawing board. Honestly, though, they're still picking unexploded ordinance out of the ground - you're never going to find evidence that supports those beliefs, not even in the weakest sense, where you find a lack of evidence to attest to the fact ........but........ linguistics has to be the single most hilarious place to look for it...or see it. As your comments about Stalin made so amusingly clear.
