mask mandates are the last thing that should go.
Vaccine requirements should be the first to go. By now, everyone who is EVER going to get vaccinated has done so. Against new variants, protection against infection wanes after a few months. Are we going to define "fully vaccinated" as "had a booster within the last 3 months"? If not, then it loses its usefulness.
The virus is beyond containment or eradication. We are already at the "learn to live with it" stage, providing it doesn't overwhelm the healthcare system. For that - we need as many vaccinated as possible, but mandates won't help. The right-wing is fully entrenched and is now against all vaccines of all type. Science has lost the PR war with part of the population.
