Flew a Cessna 172 near the end of my training; only one door (on the passenger side) with dual locks. Pure joy in that aircraft; lots of power with full instrumentation.
You sound like Indiana Jones. I didn't realise the level of adventures people have had on here.
The seat belt was due to my carelessness; I also took off one time, having forgot to put gas in the plane. Air Traffic control (quietly) were laughing at me when I requested to return to the Cedar Rapids airport.
