Unfortunately, funds from my dad's estate are nearly exhausted. It presently costs about $25,000 per month for the caregivers, housekeepers and nurses which allow her to remain at home. She will probably have to go into a nursing home in January and she isn't happy about it.
That's a tough decision to have to make. My heart goes out to you and your family.
I had no idea the cost could be so high. The man who used to own the house next door, moved his parents in after renting it out a few years. The last few years between the health of his father and mother, there was a caregiver there 24/7 and frequent ambulance visits. Not to mention home healthcare and family popping in and out. One night we had the windows open and the EMTs showed up and while wheeling the mother out to the ambulance we could hear her refusing to go to the "damn hospital". She hung on a couple more years after that.
I'm your huckleberry.
