I hate to think of how much money my mother gave to the Catholic Church and dubious Christian "charities" out of Dad's estate. I'm guessing that it came to about $250,000. It could have been much higher. That money could have allowed her to remain at home for at least another year. She's quite bitter about the present situation and blames my brother for the lack of funds, but I refuse to get involved in the discussion.
