Whether or not a god or a magic book says something is itself irrelevant, as it's no reason whatsoever to do or not do that thing. Have I ever met a completely rational theist? No. Then again, I've never met a completely rational person of any kind, and a person doesn't have to be a theist, or engage in any of the silly shit that theists do..opq included....in order to be religious.
