The consensus you’re imagining doesn’t exist. What constitutes ‘knowledge’ is very much an open question among epistemologists.

But that’s beside the point, which is whether a scientifically reached conclusion has a different value from the same conclusion reached by other means.

Personally, I'd say scientifically reached conclusion hold more weight simply because it requires repeated testing, documentation, ruling out of various factors and finally and evidence-based conclusion.

EG:

Person A: Water turns to ice due to invisible ice goblins. 

Person B: Water turns to ice when the temperature of the water drops below 32F (0C). This causes the water molecules to slow down enough to stick to each other and form a solid crystal.
