There is a delicacy in parts of China that involves cooking a fish in such a way that the fish is not killed, the partially cooked fish is served and eaten while still gulping air.
There is a Vietnamese delicacy which involve hard boiling a chicken egg, not an egg with white and yoke, but one with a nearly fully developed chicken embryo
There is an Italian delicacy which involves eating cheese with live maggots in it.
There is an Icelandic delicacy that involves eating the meat from a shark at advanced stage of decomposition and as a result strong uric acid had accumulated in the rotting tissue, so adding to the smell of rot is the smell of piss.
There is a Swedish fish dish that smell so foul it must be eaten outdoors. An entire town had to be evacuate due to the smell when a fish cannery caught fire and some cans of the stuff exploded in the heat and spread the smell around town.
There is a Japanese dish that looks like fish roe, except the little orbs are fish eyeballs.
